Former soldier of the Foreign Legion, Sebastien Reynard created the “Skill Sharpening” association.
He was born in Mulhouse and he grew up in Riez La Romaine; a small village in the Alpes de Haute Provence.
As a child, his dream was to become “Legionary” – which he achieved for a total of 16 years, until 2011.
Following such, a retraining into the civilian world led him towards a position of responsibility (of safety, security, societal and environmental) on an expatriate site in Nigeria.
What he retains the most from his many journeys and missions is the richness of his encounters, of the people he has met and their cohesion.
He was particularly impressed by the flexibility, skills, agility, endurance and resilience of a certain few, (notably in Côte d’Ivoire, the equatorial forests of Guyana and Brazil, as well as the mountains of Afghanistan and Kirghizistan).
With a strong taste for challenge, he was inspired by his own experience as well as the Roman culture from his childhood village in order to create his own fitness philosophy; along with the support of:
. Sergio and Fergal (also former legionaries, originating in Argentina and Ireland)
. Nicolas (his brother, gourmet chef and sports coach located in Southeast Asia – Thailand, Laos, Malaysia and Singapore – since 2006)
To establish an annual adventure race that will place these values and virtues at the forefront for all participants and members who desire such.[/title_image]
We plan to create several similar races as of 2020 and onwards;[/title_image]
“The Thirsty Fox Race” will be inspired by the Roman legionaries training mode, who practiced combat through the help of nature’s obstacles.
The participants of this race will face balance beams, walls, ladders, ropes and many other obstacles that are not only designed in order to test physical integrity, but also to build self-confidence, courage, strong will, problem-solving as well as mental endurance.
The objective of this race is not so much to achieve a specific time, but rather to consider it as a mission in which every participant must seek to both improve themselves as well as to help each other.
